MEET OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

CHARLES E. BREWER, Director (2014 – Present), President (2017 – Present):  B.A., M.A. in Economics, M.B.A.; Vietnam-era Navy veteran; 37 years in banking and finance, retired from Freddie Mac 2010. Full-time LOW resident since June 2009, owner since 2007.  Spent four years as an interpreter at Ellwood Manor on the Wilderness Battlefield.  Assisted in creation of CWSGI website. 

JACK PHEND, Director (2014 – Present), Vice President (2017 – Present): B.A., Valparaiso University, M.A., Northwestern University in Theatre Arts; U.S. Army veteran; Professor Emeritus in Theatre with 34 years of teaching and research in higher education; special emphases in theatre history and literature. Experience in theatre performance, direction, and design. Also taught in Costa Rica and England. Currently an interpreter at Ellwood Manor; resident at Lake of the Woods since 2012.

BOGGS WRIGHT, Director (2015 – Present), Treasurer (2015 – Present): BA with Distinction in Economics and Master of Education (UVA); Doctor of Education (GWU).  39 year career as an educator in the public schools of Virginia; retired from Fairfax County Public Schools  Full-time resident at LOW since 2005. 

GREGORY MAJOR, Director (2018 – Present), Secretary (2023 – Present):  Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, Greg received a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Edwards University in 1974, with Honors.  He worked for the FBI for 41 years, for the last 31 of which as an engineering technician in the FBI’s Technical Services Division.  He is retired and he and his wife have three grown children.  Greg is a member of Knights of Columbus, NARFE, National Association of Technical Investigators, Orange County Historical Society, and the Legion of Mary at church.

JILL & DEKE IGLEHART, Directors (2021 – Present):  Jill and Deke Iglehart retired from Memphis, TN to Lake of the Woods in 2015 to be closer to two of their three children, as well as five of seven grandchildren! They are particularly supportive of CWSG’s educational activities for local school children.

Jill has paternal Virginia ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War and on both sides in the Civil War. She earned a BA in Economics from Rhodes College (formerly Southwestern) in Tennessee. In addition to raising three children, her professional career spanned banking, Cash Manager for the City of Memphis, and 20 years as a member of the Memphis/Shelby County (TN) Industrial Development Board, serving as its Chairman for her last 8 years.

Deke earned both a BS in Mathematics and MBA Management Science from the University of Tennessee. In his 35 year career with First Tennessee Bank he rose to become Executive Vice President of its Wholesale Capital Markets Division. In addition, he served two terms on the Board of the regulatory Municipal Securities Rule Making Board. After his 2007 retirement he spent seven years as a substitute math teacher and tutor for a charter school. Deke also served in the 3/115 Artillery Battalion of the Tennessee National Guard.

ROBERT H. (Bob) JOHNSON, Director (2012 – Present): FOUNDING MEMBER!  BA Business Administration/Automatic Data Processing, George Washington University. 40 years in private businesses, 20 years in Federal Government (IT). Retired in 2007. Full time LOW resident since July 2006. Author of “Walking in their Footsteps” series of papers on the Wilderness Battlefield. Volunteer for NPS/VIP as leader of Ellwood and Wilderness Battlefield Grounds Force 9 years. Wrote “History and Driving Tour of LOW”. Co-author of “Tracks through Time: a Railfan Driving Tour of Orange County. Va.” 

Tom Neubig, Director (2023 – ): B.A., Kalamazoo College, PhD Economics, University of Michigan. Forty-year career as a tax policy economist with the U.S. Treasury, Ernst & Young, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the TaxSageNetwork. Interested in history and the local community. CWSG presentation on the Winter Encampment of 1863/4 in Culpeper and Orange Counties. At LOW since 2011.

CRAIG RAINS, Director (2010 – Present), Past President (2014-16)FOUNDING MEMBER! 37 years in advertising and public relations. B.S.B.A. in marketing, University of Arkansas; M.A. in journalism, Arkansas-Little Rock; Adjunct professor in journalism, UALR. 1st Lt., U.S. Army; Captain and Radio-TV Officer, U.S. Army Reserve. Past director and interpreter at Ellwood Manor, Friends of Wilderness Battlefield; member, Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Military Order of the Stars and Bars. Head of docent program at historic St. George’s Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg. At LOW since 2002.

JOSEF W. ROKUS, Director (2010 – Present), Past Secretary (2010 – 2022)FOUNDING MEMBER!  M.S., M.B.A. Previously: 1st Lieutenant, U.S. Army; plant manager; corporate secretary; Vice President of Finance; consultant. National Park Service researcher and free-lance writer: books, articles and monographs dealing with genealogy, local Civil War history, Medal of Honor recipients; a local cemetery; Fredericksburg National Cemetery; etc. At LOW since 2003.
